Social media site Instagram has developed its in-app shopping capabilities to now include a shopping section on the Explore tab and the option to ‘shop’ through its Stories facility.
The photo-sharing site has added the shopping tab to the Explore page in order to allow users to scroll through shoppable merchandise from various sellers, while consumers will now also be able to make purchases via the Stories function.
With the Facebook-owned site reporting that 90 million users a month tap posts to reveal shopping tab, the rise of in-app shopping is growing to be a successful marketing tool for businesses, with the company reporting that one-third of the most viewed Stories are posted by businesses.
The company stated in a blog post that it is, ‘excited to see how Shopping in Stories enable brands to tell an even deeper story about what’s behind their products.”
The shopping function on the Explore tab will see items tailored to individual user’s tastes and will allow consumers to browse according to their interests.
