Sephora and Carrefour are rumored to be considering setting up shop in Israel after fellow French retailer Decathalon’s successful launch in the market, according to a report published by Globes.
Having opened its first branch last week, Decathalon was forced to close for a day to restock after Israeli shoppers demonstrated the full force of their purchasing power.
Israeli Minister of the Economy and Industry Eli Cohen met with French Minister of the Economy Bruno Le Maire to discuss bilateral trade following the opening of Decathalon’s inaugural store last week.
Cohen called on other French stores to follow Decathalon’s lead as the two countries celebrated 70 years of diplomatic relations. The pair agreed to encourage French retailers to set up shop in Israel.
