Is this the end of the double chin? US Food and Drugs Administration approves first injectable drug to tackle submental fullness

The US Food and Drugs Administration has approved the first and only injectable drug that claims to contour and improve the appearance of moderate to severe submental fullness – commonly known as a ‘double chin’.

The patented KYBELLA is formulated with deoxycholic acid, which is said to target and destroy fat cells. Board Certified Dermatologist Timothy M Jochen, MD of Contour Dermatology & Cosmetic Surgery Center is one of the first physicians to offer the treatment.

“I have been performing tumescent liposuction for under chin contouring for years and am excited to be able to offer patients a non-surgical option,” said Jochen. “In my opinion, the best patient for this procedure is someone who has a small pocket of fat with fairly tight skin. In this indication, I think it will have amazing results.”
