It IS Isobutyl paraben-free: ISCI to update ingredients list for Belo Essentials ‘by end of August’

Intelligent Skin Care Inc (ISCI) has pledged to update the ingredients list carried on the packaging for its Belo Essentials line by the end of the month, according to a report published by Rappler, after the manufacturer was asked to pull products from shelves in Manila for flouting an ASEAN Cosmetics Directive ban on isobutyl paraben.

The company has since claimed that its products do not contain isobutyl paraben, an ingredient associated with ovarian and breast cancer, the controversial chemical having been omitted since 2009 by manufacturer Eurochemicals. However, ICSI said it was not aware of the development until June of this year and therefore had omitted to update the ingredients list on Belo Essentials packaging to reflect the change.

The company is now said to be in the process of correcting all product labels, and has committed to completing the relabelling by the end of the month.
