THE WHAT? Japanese drugstore Maruya has launched its first offshore international space in Sheung Shui, Hong Kong, according to Inside Retail Asia. 

THE DETAILS With Sheung Shui a prominent border town for parallel traders, Maruya is set to stock Japanese cosmetics as well as to-order medicines, which the store will quote independently as well as arranging delivery from Japan.  

THE WHY? J-Beauty continues to be a big draw for Chinese consumers, and as such the store’s website highlights the Japanese authenticity of its products. 

In a nod to the current climate, Maruya is offering a complimentary surgical mask with any purchase.
