Japanese e-commerce retailer Cosme.com targets Western consumers with new English-language site

Japan’s most popular e-commerce website has launched an English language version of its site.

Cosme.com currently boasts 10 million visitors per month and 270 million page views. The website retails over 250,000 items of 28,000 domestic and foreign brands.

Cosme estimates that one in every two women in Japan in their 20s and 30s use the site, yet the retailer now wants to target a new market of Western consumers.

It has launched a new site www.cosme.com/en/ which will retail popular brands such as Haba, Jill Stuart, House of Rose, Awake and Ayura.

Deliveries of products to non-domestic consumers will be processed by third party forwarding services to speed up delivery times.

Cosme is offering 2,000 purchase points to new users that register on the site within the month of May.
