JD Beauty Group has announced the acquisition of curl brand Ouidad, according to a report by WWD.com.
While terms of the deal were not disclosed, it has been reported that Ouidad has sales of around $15 to $20 million and offers products such as Advanced Climate Control Defrizzing Conditioner, Curl Quencher Moisturizing Shampoo, and Curl Recovery Whipped Curls Daily Conditioner & Styling Primer.
JD Beauty Group, which owns WetBrush and Bio Ionic, bought the company from now defunct private equity firm JH Partners and will be better positioned in the hair care market thanks to the purchase.
Likewise Ouidad expects to benefit from the purchase, with Chief Executive Officer Pierre Lampert stating the deal will ‘further accelerate the company’s development.”
The acquisition was partially funded by Star Mountain Capital, which provided financial assistance for the deal, with JD Beauty being backed by New York private equity firm Topspin Partners.
