JDO upgrades Alberto Balsam design for Unilever’s premium range

JDO Brand & Design has unveiled its latest commission; Unilever’s premium hair care line, Alberto Balsam Blends.

The design house was tasked with upgrading the standard Alberto Balsam design for a premium range of products with advanced formulas and more indulgent ingredients, such as red camellia, argan oil and organic green tea.

JDO has also revisited the Alberto Balsam logo, with hand-drawn typography for a more modern feel. The bold brand blocking and watercolour imagery are designed to create a strong presence on-shelf.

“The new premium range reinforces the brand’s values through fragrance cues and clear and attractive typography,” explained Ben Oates, JDO Executive Creative Director. “The aim was also to elevate the ingredient story to fully communicate the quality and innovative nature of the products. We wanted the designs to feel abundantly fragrant as well as deeply nourishing.”
