THE WHAT? Perfumer Jo Malone has partnered with Zara to create a fragrance range for the high-street clothing chain, according to a report published by WWD.
THE DETAILS The Zara Emotions Collection by Jo Loves launched at the weekend and comprises 8 scents.
“I am delighted to join Zara on this amazing adventure of creativity and collaboration,” Malone said in a statement. “Our first collection is drawn on the global heritage of both brands, Zara and Jo Loves; using ingredients I have loved for many years. Every fragrance has been crafted with personality and a voice to tell its story in a unique fashion. I hope you enjoy this first collection, it is full of imagination and artistry.”
THE WHY? Although it’s quite a departure from her premium background, Malone told WWD that the partnership was a ‘no brainer’ given the clothing brand’s global heft and its raft of loyal fans.
Zara, meanwhile, gets the kudos of the Jo Loves brand, fitting with its mission to ‘redefine its fragrance business model’ in time for the 20th anniversary of its first scent, as Eva Lopez, Head of Zara Cosmetics, told WWD.
“This is the beginning of a long-term relationship with Jo Malone CBE; we will incorporate further markets progressively. Next year, we will complete the collection by adding candles and the amazing paintbrush, which Jo has developed under her new brand,” Lopez revealed in an interview with WWD.
