Johnson & Johnson requests talc cases to be consolidated in New Jersey

Johnson & Johnson has requested that some 18 federal lawsuits, which allege that the US FMCG manufacturer’s signature talc causes ovarian cancer, be relocated to New Jersey, according to a report published by FiercePharma.

New Jersey is the company’s home state but also home to judge Nelson Johnson, who threw out two similar lawsuits earlier this month. Johnson & Johnson is arguing that the cases be moved on the grounds that New Jersey courts are ‘most familiar with the issues’ and not as busy.

J&J picked the Western District of Oklahoma as its second preference, while plaintiff Tanashiska Lumas has petitioned for the Southern District of Illinois.
