Kenyan women spend an average of SH50,000 per year on their hair, according to the AfroUrembo Beauty Trends Report 2018, as reported by Capital FM.
Women hailing from the East African nation have upped spend by some 5 percent since 2016 as disposable income grows, now spending almost 20 percent of their income on hair products and services.
“Women have been empowered and are now very aggressively seeking job opportunities and getting into side jobs and entrepreneurship, increasing the spending power,” reads the report.
Kenyan women are said to prefer natural products that offer smoothing benefits over harsher chemical treatments.
