Klarna Files for US$1.46 Billion NYSE IPO, Eyes US$14 Billion Valuation

THE WHAT? Klarna is aiming to raise up to US$1.46 billion through a New York Stock Exchange IPO, with shares priced between US$35–US$37, valuing the company at up to US$14 billion.

THE DETAILS The offering includes 34.3 million shares, with an additional 5.1 million available through an overallotment option. Klarna itself will sell 5.6 million, with the rest coming from existing shareholders.

Best known for its buy now, pay later services, Klarna is expanding into banking with a Visa debit card and deeper integration with Stripe. It added 202,000 new merchants in the past year and now has 111 million active users and 790,000 merchants, with recent U.S. partnerships including Walmart, eBay, and upcoming rollouts with Nexi, Worldpay, and J.P. Morgan Payments.

THE WHY?  Klarna’s listing signals strong momentum in retail fintech, as it scales payment solutions across beauty, lifestyle, and e-commerce brands in its largest market—the U.S.
