Japan-based cosmetic company Kose is launching a women’s skincare brand in India, to reach a new market of consumers.
The company has is targeting skincare brand Spawake at India’s population of young, urban consumers.
“We have developed Spawake especially for the Indian market. We have spent three years in developing products for Indian women. We want to provide modern beauty solutions and have plans to introduce more products going forward,” Takashi Nomura, India Director of Kose, told The Economic Times, India.
Spawake products will be produced by a contract manufacturer, yet Kose has revealed that the company may invest in an India-based factory, depending on the success of the line.
The Spawake product line includes moisturisers and whitening series and will be available in supermarkets, mainly in Delhi, and also online. Kose plans to scale up its distribution to other parts of the country.
The brand has appointed Bollywood actress Aditi Rao Hydari as its brand ambassador.
