L’Oreal India COO quits to start new venture

Dinesh Dayal is set to leave his post of Chief Operating Officer for L’Oreal India in order to start his own advisory venture, the company said in a statement.

Dayal has worked at the cosmetics giant for over 30 years and has been instrumental in launching brands such as Garnier and L’Oreal Paris Excellence crème in India. During his time at the company Dayal worked in the French and Asian markets and was a vital cog in setting up operations in India.

He was also vital to the recent acquisition of Cheryl’s Cosmeceuticals – a professional skin care brand – and worked to set up and develop several sustainability programmes for L’Oreal India.

When discussing his departure from the company, Dayal said, “I was given great degree of freedom to take on new projects, thanks to which I have been able to live my dream of an ‘intraprenuer’.” While continuing to work with L’Oreal India as a consultant, he will go on to be President of Indian Beauty & Hygiene Association (IBHA), which focuses on creating and formulating industry policy and benchmarks.

Dayal was the longest serving COO for the company.
