L’Oréal invites Google MD to join board

L’Oréal has identified a new member of its board, and hopes to secure shareholder approval for the appointment at the AGM scheduled for April 20.

Eileen Naughton, Managing Director and Vice President for the UK and Ireland at Google, would replace Renault Chairman Louis Schweitzer.

“It’s very important to have someone who can help the group navigate the digital world,” said L’Oréal Chairman Jean-Paul Agon.

The French beauty giant saw internet sales soar 38 percent in 2015 to €1.3 billion, representing 5 percent of total sales. L’Oréal has dedicated a quarter of its PR budget to digital and has hired 1,000 new staff since 2013 in a bid to boost its online presence.
