L’Oréal Japan takes digital innovation to another level with Sonify Hair music technology

L’Oréal has once again upped its digital game thanks to the launch of a new patented evaluation technology, Sonify Hair – a sonification sound transformation that allows consumers to listen their ‘hair repair condition song.’

The new technology is said to bring together science of the hair surface and friction, along with hair repair reformulation. A study that has traditionally been observed under the microscope, with hair friction measured under sensors, the Sonification technology allows the traditional results to be transformed into a music piece.

The technology will be available at hair salons, and is said to allow customers to listen to their individual songs, thus providing salon customers with a new and tangible proof of efficacy, according to the company.

Such is the success of the technology that the initiative was awarded a best Basic Research Award at the latest International Federation of Societies of cosmetic Chemists (IFSCC) congress held last November in America.
