L’Oréal Malaysia appoints new Managing Director

Malek Bekdache has been appointed as the new managing director for L’Oréal Malaysia after holding many executive positions within the company for years.

Bekdache will be responsible for the leadership and development of L’Oreal Malaysia and is said to be playing a crucial role in pushing forward the company’s growth plans within the country.

After joining the company in 1996 Bekdache has worked for the group in France, where he held marketing positions, before he returned to Lebanon where he set up a coordination office for the Middle East.

Other roles within the company included relaunching a new subsidiary in Egypt in 2008 alongside the development of a new regional strategy, and, in August 2011, Bekdache became Managing Director of the Lebanese subsidiary. Here he developed a Levant hub where L’Oréal Lebanese became L’Oreal Levant, which included Syria, Jordan, Iraq and Palestine as well as Lebanon.

Bekdache said, “This is such an exciting time to be joining L’Oréal Malaysia as we chartering our course to be number one in all that we do. My focus will be on driving the business through consumer centricity, digitisation of all our brands, a strong focus on talents and sustainability. I’m thoroughly excited to be on board and part of the great team that will take us to the next level.”

Meanwhile, Pierre-Yves Arzel, Managing Director L’Oréal, South Asia Pacific said, “I’m confident that Bekdache is the right person to lead the company forward.
