L’Oréal Paris faces boycott following decision to sack transgender model Munroe Bergdorf over racism row

Several consumers are calling for fellow shoppers to boycott L’Oréal Paris following the brand’s decision to cut ties with transgender model Munroe Bergdorf, according to a report published by the BBC. Twitter users have been tweeting the hashtags #IStandWithMunroe and #BoycottLoreal in a show of support for the model.

Bergdorf was dismissed by the French beauty giant after posting about systemic racism on her Facebook account. The posts have since been deleted.

“L’Oréal champions diversity. Comments by Munroe Bergdorf are at odds with our values and so we have decided to end our partnership with her,” L’Oréal Paris posted on its official UK Twitter account.

Several commentators spoke out in her favor, arguing that her comments were taken out of context. Munroe has since clarified and justified her comments, stating that her dismissal proves ‘everything I said to be true’.
