THE WHAT? Lancôme has launched its first global sustainability program, named Caring Together for a Happier Tomorrow, with a focus on biodiversity and social inclusion.
THE DETAILS Based on three pillars; the biodiversity-focused Bring the World to Bloom, the responsible consumption-based Live Responsibly and Write Her Future, aimed at empowering women.
The program will focus on biodiversity via regenerative agricultural practices, eco-friendly formulas and packaging, partnerships and green science. All of the brand’s raw materials will be sourced in a responsible and sustainable way by 2030.
Lancôme is also committing to manufacturing products with sustainable packaging using more recyclable materials.
Other noteworthy pledges include a partnership with the National Museum of Natural History, reducing its footprint with refillable, rechargeable and recyclable products, and ‘eco-conceived’ stores.
The company is also looking to empower women through ‘literacy, mentoring and entrepreneurship.’
THE WHY? As consumers make a perceptible shift in their buying patterns, with sustainable brands high on the list, Lancôme is evolving its eco credentials at an instrumental time for green consumerism.
Françoise Lehmann, Lancôme Global Brand President, said, “At Lancôme we are accelerating our global transformation by tackling today’s most pressing issues by protecting biodiversity, by supporting vulnerable women around the world, and by empowering our customers to make more sustainable consumption choices and become actors of change.”
