L’Occitane opens Green Store concept in Australia

THE WHAT? L’Occitane has launched its first Green Store concept in Australia, which comes as part of the company’s sustainability program.

THE DETAILS The store has been built in collaboration with the Green Building Council of Australia (GBCA) and is located within the space of L’Occitane’s Westfield Bondi Junction store.

Concepts include a living green wall with a fully integrated irrigation system that acts as a natural air filter, as well as a Refill Fountain, where consumers can refill products in 100 percent recyclable aluminium ‘Forever Bottles.’

Other sustainable aspects include the recycled glass benchtops and icebreaker sinks, which were manufactured by Australian company Betta Stone.

Mechanisms have also been integrated to allow for continual monitoring to identify new ways to lower consumption and help contribute to achieving the Green Star certification.

THE WHY? The move evolves L’Occitane’s sustainability strategy. According to Pierre-Emmanuel Joffre, General Manager L’Occitane Australia, “We are so proud of this achievement and the level of detail; from the materials through to the refill fountain; we collaborated across the whole company to think outside the box so that sustainability and reducing waste are at the centre of the Boutique, just like L’Occitane’s philosophy, it is in everything we do.”
