THE WHAT? L’Occitane’s incubator, Obratori has purchased a minority stake in vegan lipstick brand, Le Rouge Français, according to a report published by WWD.
THE DETAILS Terms of the deal were not disclosed but the investment was designed to help Le Rouge Français realise its growth ambitions, per WWD.
THE WHY? MD of Obratori, Amaury Godron told WWD that Le Rouge Français was chosen for its ‘strong innovations in formulation and cosmetic packaging’ – big-brand incubators are created expressly to find the smaller disruptors in fast-growing categories, while Le Rouge Français will gain the cash it needs to scale up.
“We support the development of cosmetics companies, wellness and retail-tech, which have proven efficacy in their products and solutions as well as regulatory proof of so-called ‘clean’ products,” said Godron in a statement per WWD. “Le Rouge Français is made with a very high degree of naturalness, of eco-responsibility and according to good manufacturing practices – all to propose a new offer demanded by consumers wanting beauty without compromise either for their health, [products’] sensuality or desirability.”
