Loop and Ulta launch sustainable beauty platform

THE WHAT? U.S. beauty retailer Ulta has expanded its partnership with Loop through the launch of a new website, www.loopbyulta.com, which allows consumers to shop for beauty and personal care products in durable, sustainable packaging, which will be refilled and reused.

THE DETAILS Consumers will be able to purchase items from brands such as Burt’s Bees and Mad Hippie. When placing an order shoppers put down a deposit on each package, which is refundable once it is returned via a free pick-up service. 

Tom Szaky, Founder and CEO, Loop and TerraCycle, said, “Consumers are increasingly asking for more environmentally responsible options in this category and this collaboration provides them with a solution that is simple and convenient.”

THY WHY? The companies are looking to minimize the 120 billion packaging units produced globally annually within the cosmetics industry via the initiative.
