THE WHAT? L’Oréal Paris has announced the appointment of Indian model and actor, Nidhi Sunil, as International Spokesperson.
THE DETAILS The Bollywood star is said to be the brand’s first Indian model Global Ambassador and is known for speaking out against colorism.
“I’m so happy to join [the] #LOrealParisFamily – to speak out for the self-worth we must all believe in to succeed, especially when others try to tell us differently. To me, beauty lies in the full power of your own voice and your belonging in the world. All of our stories are worth hearing. Our worth is our birthright,” Sunil wrote in an Instagram post uploaded by the brand. THE WHY? With the furore over skin lightening products last summer, prompted by the global anti-racism movement, the French beauty brand is presumably hoping to further distance itself from any suggestion that lighter skin in desirable.
