L’Oréal sells four top domain names to XYZ Registry

THE WHAT? L’Oréal has sold four domain extensions to domain name registry operator XYZ Registry.

THE DETAILS The French beauty giant sold .beauty, .makeup, .hair and .skin, with the deal having been finalised on 10th January.

THE WHY? Despite originally planning to operate some of the extensions as ‘closed’ top level domains not open to registration, L’Oréal has remained an ambivalent registrant prior to the recent sale.

The company has since dropped all Brand TLDs, removing itself from the generic domain business.
