L’Oréal has partnered with Boots to build on its AI / AR offer, according to a report published by Net Imperative.
The French beauty giant has unveiled a face-scanning app that can advise users on the best treatments for their skin concerns. The Effaclar Spotscan tool is free to download via the UK drugstore chain’s website.
The user’s image will be compared to a database of 6,000 dermatologist patient photos of different ethnicities before the app rates the shopper’s blemishes between zero and 4, and receives an individual count of black heads, inflammatory spots and scarring from blemishes.
While those at the more severe end of the spectrum will be advised to consult a specialist, for most, the app will issue tailored product recommendations from La Roche-Posay’s eponymous range.
