THE WHAT? L’Oréal has launched the new YSL Beauty Worldwide Flagship Store in Shanghai as it looks to capitalize on the flourishing domestic fragrance market.
THE DETAILS The new 100 square metre store will dedicate 50 percent of its footprint to fragrances, with the company choosing to locate the retail space in the downtown Xintiandi area.
Looking to bring new products, brands, and boutiques to China during Shanghai’s Double Five Shopping Festival, Brand General Manager of Yves Saint Laurent Beauty China, Sebastian Xing, highlighted the company’s successful fragrance sales.
He said, “The pick-up of fragrance in China comes slower than personal-care and beauty products but it’s already our fastest-growing category.”
THE WHY? Talking about the new store, L’Oréal China President and CEO Fabrice Megarbane reiterated the company’s commitment to the Chinese market.
He stated, “The global debut of YSL Beauty’s new flagship store marks our bigger commitment to bringing the best of the world’s beauty to consumers in Shanghai and the whole China.”
