Luxury cosmetics to send profits soaring 20 percent at Pola Orbis

Pola Orbis is expected to report a 20 percent rise in group operating profit to ¥3.5 billion for the first quarter of 2016, according to a report published by Nikkei Asian Review.

Sales are predicted to rise 6 percent to ¥48 billion, with skin-whitening supplements and skin care products proving particularly popular with tourists.

Pola Orbis’ latest launch, the BA series, is said to have performed well, while new brands Three and decencia are both expected to report revenue growth, although this will be offset by upfront investments and widening profit margins.

Among Pola Orbis’ portfolio of foreign brands, Jurlique is expected to stand out for its healthy performance at duty-free outlets, although US brand H20+ is thought to have suffered from store closures in China.
