MAC changes entire make-up brush collection from animal hair to synthetic fibres

MAC has announced that it has changed it’s entire make-up brush collection from animal hair to synthetic fibres, making the range completely cruelty free.

The cult beauty brand has also announced it will launch new brush styles alongside the product change, as well as bringing back past favorites.

A statement from the company read, “Our long-lauded brush line gets treated to a makeover! Introducing our 100% synthetic brushes, incorporating the latest innovations in fibre technology for superior performance and improved longevity. An “S” on the handle following the brush number identifies each new and improved replacement. The collection brings back the 125, 161 and 139 brushes, and also debuts two new Eye Brushes – 240S and 268S.”

While fans took to social media to voice their concerns whether the brushes would still be of the same quality, it seems many have found the new line to be of the same class, if not better.

MAC’s Global Senior Artist Dominic Skinner spoke on Instagram about the new line, stating, “So MAC makeup brushes are becoming 100% synthetic with all current MAC brushes converting to man made fibre and new brushes being added to the line up. I promise I was very doubtful over them as I love my current MAC brushes, but I have been converted too. They are just as soft and in many cases, softer. The best think (sic) I’ve found is the new male-up brushes keep their shape better. Fear not! The quality is still the same if not better!!”
