THE WHAT? Macy’s Inc has announced plans to hire 38,000 seasonal workers this holiday season across its department store brands, Bluemercury and distribution centers.

THE DETAILS WWD reports that last year, the US retailer hired some 41,000 temporary staff, although Macy’s Inc claims this year’s cohort is consistent with the seasonal roles available in the 2022 holiday season.

THE WHY? Danielle Kirgan, Macy’s Chief Transformation and Human Resources Officer, noted, “The holidays are one of Macy’s, Inc.’s most important seasons to deliver a great shopping experience for our customers and our colleagues are the company’s greatest brand ambassadors at this special time of year.
