THE WHAT? Ulta Beauty has announced its MUSE Accelerator cohort for 2023. Eight early-stage BIPOC beauty brands will follow a 10-week curriculum as well as receive mentorship and funding in preparation for retail distribution.
THE DETAILS The brands chosen span the body care, fragrance, skin care, nail and hair categories. Deon Libra, for example, is described as an adaptogenic stress care line, while Vida Bars is a sustainable hair care brand; Octavia Morgan Los Angeles offers unisex clean scents, and FinesseYourClaws is a line of press-on nails.
THE WHY? The program is one of the ways Ulta Beauty ensures its assortment is inclusive. Monica Arnaudo, Chief Merchandising Officer, Ulta Beauty, explains, “As retail leaders and brand builders, we have a responsibility to create space and opportunities for all brands, particularly those who have been underrepresented to thrive in our industry and nurture an inclusive assortment that reflects the beautifully diverse community we serve. This year’s participants are a shining example of the bright future of beauty, and we can’t wait for the world to meet them.”
