Meta to open first bricks and mortar store

Meta to open first bricks and mortar store

THE WHAT? Facebook-owner, Meta Platforms is gearing up to open the doors on its first bricks and mortar location, according to a report published by Reuters.

THE DETAILS Based on the social media giant’s California campus, the 1,550 square-feet space will lure shoppers to try out the Quest 2 VR headset and video-calling portal as well as other smart devices. The headset will be available to buy both in store and online.

THE WHY? As its new name suggests, Meta is loading its eggs into the metaverse basket. It launched Horizon Worlds, a VR platform, towards the end of 2021 and a new version of the Quest 2 VR headset is slated to launch this summer, per Reuters. Presumably, the store will encourage trial of this new technology.
