South Korean-based skin care and cosmetics maker Missha has launched into Spain, opening three flagship stores in Barcelona, Sevilla, and Madrid.
It’s not the first European move for the brand however, with the company opening its first store in Ingolstadt in February.
It’s no surprise Missha has chosen to target Spain next, with South Korean products growing increasingly popular with Spanish consumers. Indeed, Spain is valued at the fifth biggest cosmetics market in Europe, estimated at 6.4 billion euro (8.2 billion Won) as of 2014. And the demand for Korean products is not to be sniffed at, with imports of Korean cosmetics jumping to 2.61 million Euros in 2014 from 250,000 Euros in 2010, according to data from the Korea Trade-Investment Promotion Agency (KOTRA).
And the company doesn’t plan to stop its European onslaught there, with plans to open new stores in Berlin and Munich by the end of the year. This will add to the 2,100 stores the company has worldwide, operating in 30 countries including the United States, China, Japan, Russia, the United Arab Emirates, Oman and Venezuela.
Lee Kwang-sup, a Manager at Missha, said, “Missha made a successful debut in Germany and will repeat that success in Spain. We will attract Spanish customers with high-quality products that are available at reasonable prices.”
