Johnson & Johnson has prevailed in the latest of the ‘talc trials’ the company is battling across the US, according to a report published by Reuters.
A state court jury in Missouri found that the baby care giant and fellow talc producer Imerys could not be held responsible for the plaintiff’s ovarian cancer diagnosis.
“The jury’s decision is consistent with the science, research, clinical evidence and decades of studies by medical experts around the world that continue to support the safety of cosmetic talc,” said J&J in a statement.
The case follows on from three similar suits filed in St Louis, where the plaintiffs were awarded combined damages of US$195 million.
