Mystery shopper app Shepper raises £4.2 million

An app designed to recruit mystery shoppers named Shepper has raised some £4.2 million in investment from Aviva, according to a report published by The Times.

The app, which is used by the likes of L’Oréal et al to check displays and the service on offer in retail environments, was launched last spring and boasts 3,000 users across major cities such as Paris, London and Sydney. The app purports to save brands money using amateurs to file reports instead of hiring dedicated inspectors.

“In reality, these basic checks require no prior experience and can be completed on an ad hoc basis,” Founder Ben Prouty told The Times.
