Natura &Co announces sustainability action as part of Climate Week; CEO joins UN Global Compact board

THE WHAT? Natura &Co has announced a range of alliances with UN Global Compact as part of Climate Week 2020, with company Executive Chairman and CEO Robert Marques having joined the board of the initiative.

THE DETAILS Following on the legacy of Natura &Co’s Co-founder Guilherme Leal, Marques will be the sole representative on the Board hailing from Latin America.

The Brazilian beauty company will also sponsor two initiatives, Ambition to 1.5oC and Target Gender Equality, designed to push mainstream sustainable business practices as well as helping drive dialogue and action towards achieving the ambitions of the UN Sustainable Development Goals addressing both the climate crisis and gender equality.

THE WHY? The new green advancements are cited by the company as being part of its “key multilateral efforts to deepen its commitments to address the climate crises and to tackle gender inequality.”

Discussing the company’s goals, Marques stated, “The age of unilateralism is over. We need to embrace a multilateral approach in how we, as a society, drive decisions, even when we don’t yet have all the answers. We’re committed to ensuring that this is the decade of decisive, urgent action for the climate and gender equality.”
