Natura &Co data glitch leaves 250,000 customers exposed to hackers

THE WHAT? Some 250,000 Natura &Co customers have fallen victim of a data breach after some Amazon-hosted servers belonging to the Brazilian firm went unprotected, leading to personal information being exposed, according to a report published by Pymnts.com.

THE DETAILS “Around 90 percent of users were Brazilian customers although other nationalities were present, including customers from Peru,” Anurag Sen, a Researcher at Safety Detective who discovered the glitch told Hacker News, per Pymnts.com. “The compromised server contained website and mobile site API logs, thereby exposting all production server information. Furthermore, several Amazon bucket names were mentioned in the leak, including PDF documents referring to formal agreements between various parties.”

THE WHY? Data protection protocols are clearly lacking at Natura; the company failed to respond to SafetyDetective when alerted of the leak in April.
