Skin care company Neutrogena has recalled its popular Light Therapy Masks citing concerns over potential eye injury risks.
The masks, made popular through a plethora of social media posts as well as celebrity endorsements, were recalled under an ‘abundance of caution’ with the product said to be safe when used just once a day, as recommended.
The company issued a statement that read, “For a small subset of the population with certain underlying eye conditions, as well as for users taking medications which could enhance ocular photosensitivity, there is a theoretical risk of eye injury.”
Taking to its website, Neutrogena has advised consumers to stop using the product and seek advice from a medical professional should injury occur. Purchasers of the masks are also able to receive a full refund from the company.
