No more fatbergs: Andrex gains ‘Fine to Flush’ certification

THE WHAT? Andrex has become the first major brand in the UK to gain Water UK’s Fine to Flush certification for its Washlets range.

THE DETAILS The new official standard, technically known as Water Industry Specification 4-02-06,  identifies which wet wipes can be flushed safely and is designed to avoid consumer confusion and, ultimately, sewer blockages.

Andrex says its Washlets are biodegradable, plastic-free, will break up in the drain line and while passing through sewer, sink not float and will not block pumps.

THE WHY? Having had its knuckles wrapped by the ASA for branding its wet wipes as ‘flushable’ last year, the Kimberly-Clark-owned brand was keen to get an official stamp of approval for its flushability claim.
