Memebox has attracted the most investment of any Korean start-up over the last year, according to a report published by the Korea Herald.
According to data released by start-up platform Platum, the online K-beauty marketplace raised KRW143 billion in 2016, topping the list by a considerable margin – the start-up in second, Woowabrothers, closed KRW57 billion in funding, while Lezhin Entertainment came third with KRW50 billion.
The K-beauty specialist, which sells face masks and K-beauty staples at bargain prices and has also launched its own line, attracted investment from several sources, from tech firms to venture capitals.
