The manufacturer of Medline Remedy Essentials No-Rinse Cleansing Foam, Shadow Holdings dba Bocchi Laboratories has voluntarily recalled certain lots of the product following an investigation into a multi-state Bcc outbreak conducted by the Food & Drugs Administration (FDA).
The FDA has advised health professionals and consumers to avoid using all lots of the product, warning that it may be contaminated with Burkholderia cepacia complex (Bcc) bacteria. It is also investigating other products within Shadow’s portfolio after 10 people were infected while in hospitals across the United States.
“State and federal health officials have collected samples of the product from multiple locations, including affected hospitals. As of May 7, 2018, there have been multiple samples of the product from multiple locations that tested positive for Bcc,” said the FDA.
