Overstock relaunches Bed, Bath & Beyond website post acquisition

THE WHAT? Following a successful debut in Canada, Overstock has sent the US incantation of the new merged Overstock and Bed, Bath & Beyond websites live following its acquisition of the bankrupt retailer’s intellectual property assets for US$21.5 million.

THE DETAILS The new site features some 600,000 additional SKUs and will continue under the Bed, Bath & Beyond identity. The Canadian relaunch has been smooth, Overstock CEO Jonathan Johnson has revealed and the company is hoping that the US reveal will be similarly uneventful.

THE WHY? The new branding will enable Overstock to move away from its roots as a liquidator and provide greater recognition among consumers. The company plans to change its corporate identity to reflect the changes in due course.
