Personal care and palm oil get green light in Malaysian lockdown

THE WHAT? Malaysia will allow a number of industries to continue operations during its renewed lockdown, which commenced yesterday and will remain in place for two weeks, according to a report published by Reuters.

THE DETAILS Personal care manufacturers were among the sectors greenlighted along with chemical products, PPE and health care. Palm oil plantations will also be able to continue production.

THE WHY? Like many countries experiencing second and third waves, Malaysia is attempting to balance its need to minimise the spread of COVID-19 while keeping its economy afloat.
