THE WHAT? Procter & Gamble will expand its Iowa City Oral-B site with a US$150 million investment, adding a new 150,000-square-foot facility and 100 jobs.

THE DETAILS The project, supported by US$5.2 million in state tax credits and additional local property tax incentives, will shift part of Oral-B product manufacturing to the U.S. for the first time. Production of items currently made exclusively overseas will begin in Iowa City in 2027, though international output will continue in parallel.

P&G, which already employs around 600 people in Iowa City, reported the new roles will pay an average of US$31.85 per hour. The expansion marks one of the largest recent manufacturing investments in the region.

THE WHY? The move highlights a growing trend among multinationals to localize supply chains amid shifting trade policy and tariff pressures. For P&G, the expansion strengthens U.S.-based production capacity, while aligning with state-level incentives to retain and grow advanced manufacturing jobs.
