Personal care company LG Household and Healthcare has reported record Q2 earnings, a growth attributed to the success of its premium beauty and skin care products.
Net profit rose 36.4 percent in the April to June period year on year, reaching 159.4 billion won, while operating profit also rose, with a 34.1 percent to 225.4 billion won.
The cosmetics arm of the business rose the most, with a 55.1 percent year on year operating profit from from April to June, reaching 152.8 billion won. Sales were up 33.1 percent to 819.9 billion won in the same period while premium cosmetics came out on top, soaring 56 percent and accounting for a whopping 70 percent of the company’s cosmetics sales.
The two premium brands helping to boost sales are Whoo and S:um, with the latter leading sales in China – a location the company is expected to expand into in the second half of 2016.
