Procter & Gamble to invest US$180 million in St Louis plant

THE WHAT? Procter & Gamble has indicated that it will invest some US$180 million to upgrade its St Louis plant, according to a report published by STL Today, as long as it is offered state tax incentives.

THE DETAILS The works could see another 100 jobs created, and in return, the US FMCG manufacturer is looking for a 10-year 50 percent tax break on its US$60 million equipment spend and a sales tax exemption on construction materials.

THE WHY? Neal Richardson, Executive Director of the St Louis Development Corp, told STL Today, “St Louis won a competitive search to retain and expand Procter & Gamble’s existing home products facility. Helping to ensure P&G continues to grow in St Louis is a huge win for our city and region.”
