RB mulls £1 billion bid for personal care portfolio

THE WHAT? Reckitt Benckiser is rumored to have received a £1 billion bid for its personal care portfolio, which includes popular brands Clearasil, Veet, E45 and Scholl, according to a report published by The Business Desk, quoting Sky News as its source.

THE DETAILS Private equity firm Clayton Dubilier & Rice is said to be in the running for the UK FMCG giant’s popular drugstore brands. Its bid is being overseen by Unilever veteran Vindi Banga. Platinum Equity is also have said to have expressed its interest.

THE WHY? Thanks to the GVC, drugstore brands are enjoying a boom – and with pandemic-mandated masks increasing acne outbreaks, and DIY pedis on the up thanks to renewed lockdowns, the likes of Clearasil and Scholl will no doubt command a higher price than they would have this time last year.
