Reckitt Benckiser eyes sale of personal care brands; focuses on hygiene and health

THE WHAT? Reckitt Benckiser is said to be eyeing the sale of some of its non-core personal care brands, including Veet and Clearasil, according to a report by Reuters. 

THE DETAILS According to sources, a package of brands are up for sale, including E45 and Scholl foot care, with the deal said to be worth up to £1 billion. 

Recitt Benckiser is thought to be working with an advisor on the sale, with the brands said to be inviting to private investors due to them being cash generative. According to sources, Unilever and Henkel are said to be interested in parts of the package. 

THE WHY? The move is the latest step from new CEO Laxman Narasimhan, with the company achieving unusually strong sales in its hygiene and health business due to an increased focus on cleanliness in the wake of COVID-19.
