THE WHAT? Rodan + Fields has offered to pay US$38 million in order to settle a series of class action lawsuits surrounding its Lash Boost product.
THE DETAILS Members of the class actions can collect a cash payment of up to US$175 or a credit voucher worth US$250 without proof of purchase. The MLM’s popular lash serum is said to cause serious side effects in some users and claimants have argued that the product should be regulated as a drug instead of categorised as cosmetic due to the isopropyl cloprostenate it contains.
THE WHY? The various lawsuits allege that consumers unknowingly put themselves at risk of eye irritation, macular edema and ocular inflammation due to the controversial ingredient and lack of warning on pack. The settlement will enable Rodan + Fields to resolve the case without fighting through the courts or admitting to any wrongdoing.
