Sales up 14 percent at Symrise for 1Q 2016

Symrise has kicked off the financial year with a bang with a 14 percent rise in sales in local currency, or 10 percent in reporting currency, to €731.8 million. EBIDTAN grew 6 percent to €158.5 million, with a margin of 21.7 percent.

In regional terms, Latin America exhibited the strongest growth, with sales up 31 percent in local currency, followed by North America – up 30 percent year-on-year, an 11 percent gain in Asia/Pacific and a 4 percent rise in EAME.

The Scent & Care segment put in a strong performance with sales growing 22 percent to €344.3 million (26 percent in local currency). Growth was driven by high demand for cosmetic ingredients and menthol.

Heinz-Jürgen Bertram, CEO of Symrise, said, “Despite high volatility in some markets, Symrise achieved solid first-quarter growth and is right on track. We posted gains in all regions and both segments. After the successful start to the year, we are generally confident as we look ahead to the coming months. We will continue pushing ahead with our planned growth projects, above all the integration of Pinova Holdings, the ongoing crosslinking of our expertise, and the targeted expansion of capacity.”
