Saudi FDA bans sale of Henna Al Madina over safety concerns

THE WHAT? Saudi Arabia’s Food and Drugs Authority has issued a recall notice for Henna Al Madina after finding the cosmetic product to contain dangerous levels of bacteria, according to a report published by Gulf News.

THE DETAILS The product also failed to comply with local regulations, which require cosmetic products to be listed on the country’s electronic cosmetic product register.

THE WHY? The FDA noted, per Gulf News, that high percentages of bacteria are usually a direct result of poor manufacturing or packaging standards. The recall is designed to protect consumers and ensure products adhere to minimum safety standards.
